Job Title Compliance Associate

Propose of Position: Provides recommendations to the General Agency's Sales Team and broker/employer community with respect to compliance, training, technology tools and sales operations on health insurance industry and regulatory issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Compliance Inquiries: The Compliance Associate plays a key role in communicating with brokers and internal team members about compliance. The Compliance Associate researches situational compliance inquiries, consults with senior compliance staff, and formulates formal responses for all situational inquiries using independent judgement and discretion. 
  • Diverse response library: The Compliance Associate takes the lead on innovating, creating and maintaining a comprehensive response library for compliance support inquiries, which will also serve as a shared knowledge-source for all Compliance team members.
  • Resell product expertise: The Compliance Associate speaks to the value of the GA's resell product portfolio when communicating with brokers situationally, using this expertise to produce sales of new products
  • Compliance Collateral: The Compliance Associate innovates, creates, maintains and distributes compliance collateral to staff, brokers and employers. This requires the Compliance Associate to be creative and take independent initiative to create and maintain such collateral.
  • Education: The Compliance Associate conducts webinar presentations and builds educational tools to supplement such presentations. The sessions are for general education purposes and CE education.
  • Web content: The Compliance Associate creates and maintains compliance web content. The Compliance Associate acts as a subject matter expert for compliance to support the IT team as it improves the GA's website and online resource center.
  • Relationship building: The Compliance Associate creates the voice of the GA’s compliance team to brokers and staff on a daily basis. A critical part to succeeding with this voice is engaging in strong relationship building with brokers and staff. The Compliance Associate works to build successful relationships with customers on a situational basis, with a goal of creating lasting partnerships between brokers and the GA.
  • Strategic Thinking and Planning: The Compliance Associate independently researches and identifies new areas for growth and development initiatives.
  • Marketing: The Compliance Associate contributes to monthly compliance newsletters, blogs, key agency newsletters, podcasts, and all applicable social media outlets in conjunction with management. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Robust knowledge of the CA and its impact on the broad healthcare markets
  • Understanding of related TPA products is desired: COBRA, FSA, HAS, HRA, POP, HRIS, Payroll, Benefits Administration, Online Enrollment, and HR related technologies     
  • Ability to analyze markets and build related training/compliance tools
  • Public speaking
  • Deep understanding of the health insurance industry and its administration
  • Strong knowledge of the California and Nevada broker community, health insurance carriers, and mid-market consultant channels     

Education Requirements:

  • High school general education diploma or 5 years of health insurance industry experience.
  • Knowledge of small group and mid-market underwriting rules
  • Health insurance accreditations preferred


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and occasional standing and walking.  Must have adequate hearing for phone work.  Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.  Must be able to use a keyboard and other office equipment.  Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
