Bowhead is seeking a Chief Security Engineer to provide full-time, on-site assistance to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), located in Reston, VA. The Chief Security Engineer will be responsible for the cybersecurity of a program, organization, system, or enclave. Shall be responsible for supporting International Systems solutions and strategic adherence to all aspects of the Information Assurance program as stipulated in various USG requirements including DCID, ICD 503 and associated NIST publications.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

- Collect and maintain data needed to meet system cybersecurity reporting.
- Advise appropriate senior leadership or Authorizing Official of changes affecting the organization's cybersecurity posture.
- Acquire and manage the necessary resources, including leadership support, financial resources, and key security personnel, to support information technology (IT) security goals and objectives and reduce overall organizational risk.
- Use federal and organization-specific published documents to manage operations of their computing environment system(s).
- Ensure that cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews are coordinated for the network environment.
- Interpret patterns of noncompliance to determine their impact on levels of risk and/or overall effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity program
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity safeguards to ensure that they provide the intended level of protection.
- Oversee the information security training and awareness program
- Participate in an information security risk assessment during the Security Assessment and Authorization process.
- Provide leadership and direction to information technology (IT) personnel by ensuring that cybersecurity awareness, basics, literacy, and training are provided to operations personnel commensurate with their responsibilities
- Recognize a possible security violation and take appropriate action to report the incident, as required
- Support necessary compliance activities (e.g., ensure that system security configuration guidelines are followed, compliance monitoring occurs).
- Ensure that all acquisitions, procurements, and outsourcing efforts address information security requirements consistent with organization goals.
- Recommend policy and coordinate review and approval.
- Ensure that plans of actions and milestones or remediation plans are in place for vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments, audits, inspections, etc.
Requirements In accordance with Executive Order 14042: Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, candidates should be aware that they may be required to have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire.

• BA/S in relevant technical field PLUS eight (8+) years of relevant experience.
• IAT Level II certification is required.
• Five (5+) years of progressively responsible information assurance experience in ICD 503 assessment and authorization
• Demonstrable working knowledge of PKI and encryption systems.
• Current CISSP certification is required.
• Experience in DCID 6/3, Joint Force After Next 6/3 or DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process and understanding of classified IT at the TS level.
• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently have and able to maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret / CI Scope Polygraph level. US Citizenship is a requirement for admission to this location.
