Description GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER (WOVER-22-0833-F):

Bowhead seeks a General Maintenance Worker to assist one or more technicians supporting the Base Telephone Services (BTS) at Westover AFB, Chicopee, MA. This position will end in September or when project has been completed. They may perform specialized machine duties, or test telephone switch parts as assigned. Successful candidate will be responsive and reliable, detail-oriented, have good judgment and excellent problem solving skills and be punctual.

The General Maintenance Worker performs general duties such as:
• Keeping the technician supplied with materials and tools
• Cleaning working area, machine(s) and equipment
• Assisting technicians by holding materials or tools
• Performing other entry level tasks as directed by technician.
Requirements In accordance with Executive Order 14042: Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, candidates should be aware that they may be required to have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.


Education and/or Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in the telephone operation trade, preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English. Knowledge of technical drawings is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation / security clearance.

Essential Skills and Capabilities:
The successful candidate/desired employee will perform the following essential responsibilities.
• Skilled in maintenance trades, preferably in telephone system operations
• Knowledge/awareness of safety issues and ability to perform duties in strict compliance with OSHA rules
• Ability to work both independently with little supervisory direction and as a team player
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in English (written, oral and/or diagram form)
• Good judgment and problem solving skills
• Ability to interact with both co-workers and clients in a courteous and professional manner
• Ability to work productively with other staff in the workplace
• Must possess a strong desire to provide excellent customer service solutions and interact with coworkers and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
