Description DATABASE ENGINEER (ERDC-17-0097-F):

Bowhead seeks a Database Engineer for a real estate system environment which includes data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation. The Database Engineer will administer complex enterprise databases and applications while applying knowledge of advance design to optimize performance and guide the team in implementation of practices in database maintenance and administration. This individual will establish and maintain security policies and procedures as it pertains to content and servers. The Database Engineer will work with management systems and determine a logical way to organize and store data.

Essential functions will include:

• Determine user requirements, set up, test and coordinate changes.

• Development, maintenance, and support of complex enterprise data systems and corresponding data marts.

• Responsible for troubleshooting the ERDC real estate systems and databases. Conducts research into new database applications and determines viability for adoption.

• Establishes development standards, evaluates existing subject areas stored in the databases and incorporates existing subject areas into an enterprise model and communicates requirements, transaction rates, volume analysis and other data to required personnel in a concise and effective manner.

• Creates new or enhanced components of the real estate databases.

• Responsible for keeping the various ERDC real estate systems and databases updated and to create reports for users and customers to view the data to track and manage funds by projects. Will report errors to the Real Estate Program Management Office (PMO).

Qualified candidates must have experience working with the following:

• Administer, install, update/patch and configure Linux 6-7, WebLogic, Apache and IIS
• Windows 2008-2012
• Unix Solaris 11-12
• The ability to write/modify jobs, procedures, scripts and tables in Oracle
• Java, Perl, ASP
• KSH/Bash shell scripting
• JavaScript, query, HTML, CSS
Requirements • Must have a BS degree and 8+ years of experience

• An active CompTIA Security + certification is required. Highly qualified candidates may be considered but will be required to obtain certification within 45 days

• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts

• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the SECRET level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Physical Demands: The office environmental conditions consist of computer stations and desks with adequate and adjustable lighting. Chairs are designed to fit the various individuals and the tasks being performed. Ergonomic evaluations are completed as needed, to provide up to date modifications to all work stations.
