Description UIC Commercial Services seeks an individual to fill a multi-disciplinary Estimating Lead role based in Anchorage, Alaska.

As an Estimating Lead you will be responsible for various financial functions such as costing, estimating, budgeting, auditing, forecasting and analysis. This position will focus on estimating costs for civil, vertical and environmental remediation projects.

Essential functions will include:

• Provide estimating subject matter expertise and implement estimating improvements, particularly in the areas of: estimating process, estimating tools, database, and status reporting.
• Oversees all aspects of bidding process including: review and analysis of invitations to bid, pre-bid meetings, scoping and subcontractor pricing and overall preparation and submittal of estimates.
• Estimates labor, material, equipment and time requirements in order to be able to analyze and compute the overall cost of the project.
• Leads team on larger projects. Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities.
• Creating scoping letters and statements of work
• Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
• Performing complex analysis of collected data and metrics
• Participating in or leading efforts on RFP type submissions
• Ability to write intelligently and proficiently on pricing and other topics for RFPs
• Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Visiting sites and other venues necessary in order to understand projects that will be estimated
• Negotiate construction prices with subcontractors for competitive bidding
• Develop independent cost estimates, to be used on current as well as new projects.
• Represents Company at various events, organizations and associations for the purpose of building relationships that lead to new business. Acts in capacity of Company representative and develops community ties to enhance public image and brand of the Company. Maintains positive relations with other companies in the industry and related industries.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of demonstrable estimating experience across multiple disciplines. Additional consideration will be given to added years of experience.
• Experience in proposal writing and review.
• Knowledgeable of estimating best practices
• Required to have in-depth knowledge of project management, good understanding of data analysis methods, and familiarity with computer programs.
• Time management skills to work on fixed deadlines
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
