Description BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR (BDEV-21-1494-F):

Bowhead seeks a highly motivated business development professional for the National Capital Region (NCR). This Business Development Director will be the primary Point of Contact to help grow market presence in, and around the NCR and across the country as needed. Primary focus will be growth in Comprehensive Risk Management, Business Continuity, Physical Security and Security Services, Anti-Terrorism, Emergency Preparedness, Training Development and Delivery, Risk Assessments and Special Assessments, and other Professional Services supporting Project/Program Management.

Job Responsibilities:

• Increase Bowhead’s NCR market presence by identifying, qualifying, maturing and closing new business opportunities.
• Build and foster strong business customer relationships with targeted federal government agencies/organizations (i.e. Intelligence Community, Special Operations Command, DHS, Department of Energy, and Department of State). Continually interface with all levels of customers.
• Build and foster teammate relationships with potential partners that lead to new business. Establish NDA’s and negotiate teaming agreements.
• Analyze business opportunities to include conducting market research, developing pricing strategies, solutions and identifying business discriminators.
• Examine risk on all new business opportunities and determines risk mitigation strategies for each.
• Build, manage and mature an individual new business pipeline that supports Business Line growth goals and objectives. Direct responsibility for strategic planning to exceed revenue goals.
• Exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit while ensuring attainment and overachievement of new business revenue goals.
• Employ intimate customer knowledge, market information, competitive intelligence, and business skills to develop customer value propositions.
• Develop and present accurate, concise, and timely opportunity decision briefings for senior leadership team and executive management for bid/ no bid decisions – Gate briefings.
• Active involvement in proposal development and review team participation. Represents customer perspectives on capture/proposal teams, strategy reviews, etc.
• Active participation in pipeline and Gate reviews, business discussions, strategy sessions, lessons learned briefings, best practice identification and continuous process improvement.
• Work closely with the Group Business Development Director, Group Business Development Team, Operations Directors and organizational executives. Expected to achieve goals with little supervision.
Requirements • Minimum 7+ years of experience conducting Business Development.
• Experience working and developing business with Department of State, USAID, and DHS.
• Experience working and developing business within the Intelligence community.
• Experience working and developing business within the Special Operations community.
• Experience and understanding of Comprehensive Risk Management, Business Continuity, Physical Security and Security Services, Anti-Terrorism, Emergency Preparedness, Training Development and Delivery, Risk Assessments and Special Assessments
• Experience using Business Development tools, systems and processes – i.e. Deltek/Costpoint CRM, GovWin and Privia.
• Experience building and managing new opportunity pipelines, maturing opportunities, and participating in pipeline and Gate reviews.
• Experience competing for and winning contracts valued at $50M or more.
• Must have Active Secret Security Clearance. Active Top-Secret Security Clearance is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Demonstrated ability to consistently generate revenue and exceed quotas by identifying, qualifying, and closing new business.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the business development lifecycle and ability to mature opportunities through the capture process.
• Proven ability to manage support resources, B&P/Capture budgets and teammates.
• Demonstrated ability to engage customers, influence requirements or acquisition strategies, negotiate and close new deals.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to effectively establish and maintain communications that ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information. Able to create and deliver presentations, RFI or Sources Sought responses, write proposals and white papers.
• Exhibits professional presence and has strong interpersonal soft skills.
• Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract requirements, proposals, and other business development related documents.
• Ability to perform in a dynamic, fast-paced and rapid growth environment.
• Flexibility in work schedule is required.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold an active Secret Clearance. Top Secret Clearance preferred. US Citizenship is a requirement for both a Secret and Top Secret Clearance.
