Description Marine Machinery Mechanic (CBOTH-20-1788-W):

Bowhead seeks a Marine Mechanic to support an upcoming Government contract in Kingsland, GA. The contract will providing nationwide transportation, storage, maintenance, and repair for a rotatable pool of over one hundred aluminum hulled small boats and trailers deployed on ships worldwide.

The Marine Machinery Mechanic will be responsible for installing, rigging/de-rigging, diagnosing and conducting repairs on customer’s engines, water jets, control systems and trailers. Additional responsibilities will be for overall maintenance & repair of vessels. The work requires a practical knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components of diverse marine machinery and their attachments.

Essential functions will include:

• Learning operating characteristics of the involved machinery, equipment, and systems
• Installation and repair procedures, methods, and trade practices.

Requirements • Associate’s degree preferred but prior military experience highly sought after
• minimum of 3 years of experience as a Marine Machinery Mechanic in accordance with the job grading standards for a 5334-10 as defined by the Office Personnel Management (OPM), Classifications & Qualifications section.
• Experience with any or multiple of the following highly desired: Yanmar engines, Mercruiser outdrives, Cummins engines, ZF transmissions, Hamilton water jets, Furuno radar, FLIR, Motorola radios, Graytronics intercom, Trimble navigation electronics, Gentex headsets.
• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team



CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
