Description This position includes the receiving and documentation of cargo at the Seattle terminal from mid-May to late June as well as receiving and documentation of cargo in Prudhoe from mid-July through late September. This is a full-time, seasonal position.

• Greet/direct delivery truck drivers at the receiving yard. Communicate Bowhead’s loading documentation requirement; verify and scan incoming freight bills at receiving yard entry point.
• Enter data into computer database to generate cargo labels; update and rescan incoming bills after signed/annotated by receiving yard personnel; work with Cargo Supervisor to clarify questionable incoming bills.
• Manual processing of Load Sheets creating load packets; creating container labels.
• Document inbound cargo damage with photographs, notations and reports as necessary.
• Work with the Cargo Supervisor to release cargo.
• Generate/Complete paperwork for outbound (interport and southbound) cargo.
• Process cargo documentation to Bill of Ladings/Manifests/Stow Plans.
• Answer phones, interact with Customers and Vendors.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be self-motivated and work independently with minimum supervision.
• Knowledge of the documentation of shipments.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• 1 year of Prudhoe Bay marine transportation experience.
• 1 year warehouse experience preferred.
• Must have or be able to obtain a North Slope Cooperative certification (NSTC).
• Must have or be able to obtain a BP Transit Badge.
• Familiarity with applicable regulations that apply to marine transportation of general cargo.

Required Experience
• Minimum of 1 year of cargo handling experience in Seattle
• Minimum of 1 year of cargo handling experience in Prudhoe Bay.
• Mandatory knowledge of shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Dangerous Cargo Manifests, and an understanding of a vessel load plans is required.

Preferred Experience
• Previous forklift and machinery operations experience is preferred.
• HAZWOPER, and First Aid/ CPR training is preferred.
• Previous experience with PROMAN cargo management software preferred.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a BP Transit Badge.

Physical Demands:
• This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and may involve walking or standing for extended periods.
• The noise level in these work environments may be moderate to very loud
• Must have good balance while working on uneven surfaces and maneuvering obstacles.

Environmental Conditions:
• The outdoor work will require wearing protective gear PPE.
• Work environment includes an office setting, a freight staging yard, and a marine transportation beach loading area and dock site.
• Exposure to environmental conditions of cold, wind, rain and changing weather may be experienced.
• Exposure to environmental conditions of noise exposure, changing work environment, irregular and slippery surfaces, working in close proximity of moving equipment, and general marine industry hazards may be experienced.
• The nature of the work environment may produce moderate levels of stress.
• Job sites may contain people sitting, standing, walking, talking and signaling, and outdoor conditions containing wildlife.
