Description Jr. Machinist (EPFAB-20-1612-W)

Bowhead is seeking a candidate to support the Engineering/Prototype shop at NSWCDD. This effort is to provide support services to reliably and economically satisfy the Engineering Prototype Fabrication, Design & Drafting, Model Development, and Gauging/Dimensional inspection requirements of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Gun and Electric Weapons Department (E), Weapon System Test and Evaluation Division (E40).

The desired applicant has experience running both CNC lathes and mills and experience with CAD/CAM programming. The applicant should be able to read and understand DOD drawings and be able to hold tight tolerances on machined parts. The capability to use manual lathes, mills and saws is a must along with the capability of using common measuring tools such as dial calipers and micrometers.
Requirements • High school diploma, or equivalent, and at least 1 year experience. (Schooling and on the job training may be considered as experience)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
• Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting blueprints/schematics
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Sheet metal fabrication, welding (Mig, Tig Stick and Gas), or Operate machine shop lathes and milling machines
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
