Description MARINE MECHANIC (DLDM-18-1890-W)

Bowhead seeks an experienced Small Boat operator who is also qualified as a Marine Mechanic to join our team at Aviano Air Base in Aviano, Italy.

The Small Boat Engineer will support the United States Air Force Headquarters Air Combat Command by providing training in boat operation and maintenance, assisting in the development and teaching training courses for Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC), Advanced Rescue Craft (ARC), and outboard engine operation and maintenance.

Will provide small boat coxswain support during divining operations.

Conducts routine preventative, corrective and casualty maintenance on all small boat systems, to include trailers.

The Marine Mechanic will assess the Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems condition readiness using tests, open and inspect checks, troubleshooting, log entries, boat historical data and other means.

Location: Aviano Air Base is tucked away in the Dolomites Mountains in Northern Italy known for its ski resorts, mountain lakes, and small town of about 9,000 citizens. Aviano is also within an hours drive or train ride to Venice.
Requirements • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

• Secret Security Clearance is required. Must hold a current secret security clearance when hired, and be able to maintain a secret clearance.

• Requires three (3) years’ experience in Small Craft operation, Navigation Rules-of-Road, Seamanship and Dive Locker/Maritime communications.

• Must have three (3) years’ experience and current certification in maintenance and repairs of marine outboard engines.

• Requires current Outboard Mechanic Certification from Yamaha, Mercury or Evinrude. Having the Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) outboard maintenance and repair certification or powersports certification is a plus.

• Applicants who received the Navy Enlisted Classification Code (NEC) EN-4313 and/or can demonstrate completion of the Naval Technical Training School Outboard Maintenance and Overhaul course MASL P145905 will be considered.

• Requires three (3) years’ experience and current qualification in small craft (Zodiac) and the capability to conduct inflatable boat repairs and outboard engine maintenance as outlined in the Navy 3M Systems. Must be experienced with repairing and maintaining U.S. Navy small craft.

• Must have three (3) years’ experience the supply system and material ordering procedures and demonstrated writing ability with sufficient technical background to order supplies and repair parts and to prepare reports based on operational testing, and complete vessel assessments and inspections that are necessary to diagnose boat, systems readiness, and prepare accurate vessel overhaul and repair packages.

• Must have three (3) years’ experience and knowledge in the maintenance and use of High Pressure air compressors.

• Valid Driver’s License is required and qualified candidates must be able to obtain a US Passport. Current passport a plus.

• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must hold an active security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
