Description Responsibilities may include:
• Conducting waste water treatment lagoon discharge and sampling activities in compliance with ADEC requirements.
• Obtain required discharge authorizations from the ADEC.
• Providing logistic coordination for traveling to remote communities.
• Traveling to remote communities to perform discharge activities.
• Ensure proper sample Chain of Custody procedures are followed for all collected samples
• Provide logistical coordination for sample shipment to a pre-selected environmental laboratory within specified sample hold times.
• Update plans, programs, and procedures guiding clients discharge regulatory compliance, proper and safe operations, and prevention of undesired consequences.
• Preparation and submission of internal and external reports and related documentation.
• Participate in spill response activities, as needed.
Requirements Basic/Required:
• Familiarity with ADEC Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) discharge regulations and requirements
• ADEC recognized designation as a Qualified Sampler (QS) or Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP)
• Familiarity of working in remote communities
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Current valid driver’s license
• HAZWOPER (24 hr. minimum) preferred
• Must have a self-motivated interest to learn and work in the field of Environmental Compliance
• Proficient in Microsoft office products
• Ability to generate effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
• Develops strong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goal
