Description SENIOR SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (CBP-19-1830-F):

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support our customer in locations in Springfield and Lorton, VA. Under general supervision, the Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for activities related to system administration. The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for assigning personnel to various projects, directing their activities, and evaluating their work. The work the Senior System Administrator does ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization. Other responsibilities will include the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software as well as implementing operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.

Specific tasks include the following:

• Reorganizing workstations in the enterprise to adhere to patch windows, and by system type.
• Defining Active Directory (AD) groups for each agency system.
• Working with field management/FTOs to move all agency system into one of these AD groups.
• Collaborating with Patch and Release Management team to turn on System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Peer Caching or Similar SCCM technology and same-site redundancy for all sites.
• Documenting site-specific settings while cataloging unique systems at each site.
• Traveling to validate site group memberships and patching windows.
• On-site support of systems to troubleshooting patch status, and affect immediate patch repairs
• Remote support of systems to troubleshooting patch status, and affect immediate patch repairs

Candidates with a current Top Secret security clearance or current CBP suitability determination based on a CBP BI are highly encouraged to apply. Also sought are candidates with a current MCSA, Security+(CE), CISSP, GSEC, SSCP or CCNA-Security certifications.


Requirements • Must have at least five (5+) years of systems administration experience clearly showing experience with the tasks shown above
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, SCCM, and related applications
• Intermediate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Skilled in oral and written communications in English
• Ability to work in a combined government / contractor team
• US citizenship is a contractual requirement
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Qualified candidates must be able to obtain a favorable Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) suitability.
