Bowhead Manufacturing seeks an experienced Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) professional in Plano, Texas. The SQA is responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting supplier quality assurance efforts to ensure that products and services meet drawing and purchase order specification requirements for all purchased components and assemblies.

Effective quality assurance incorporates a combination of process and product audits that manage external and internal checks and focus on supplier management and quality conformity of the product through lifecycle production. The Supply Quality Assurance specialist uses a combination of best practices/processes and audits focused on supply management and quality conformity of the vendor's product,

Essential functions, at a minimum:

• Leads the inspection department and drives key improvements with suppliers.

• Reviews and provides input for supplier selection activities including supplier evaluation, quality systems audits, new purchase order supplier kick-offs and coordinating supplier process capability programs for new and current production components, assemblies, and special processes.

• Develops quality plans for new product introduction that include general and by part number Purchase Order flow downs, First Article Inspections, Source Inspections, supplier production sample inspections, incoming inspection plans, etc.

• Defines inspection processes, requirements, frequency and sampling.

• Develops suppliers to assure successful supplier quality metrics by ensuring suppliers understand contract compliance, engineering documentation, FAI process, nonconformance and RCCA process, workmanship standards, etc.

• Reviews and approves supplier first article inspections and leads on-site audits, evaluates prototypes, and reviews supplier's corrective actions.

• Leads failure analysis activities, compiles data and reduces product failure modes.

• Ensures timely processing of any product non-conformances found at inspection.

• Identifies and eliminates the cost of quality drivers.

• Certifies supplier and sub-tier supplier special processes.

• Drives CAPA associated with poor product quality through the supply chain to insure that any findings or non-conformances are addressed.

• Summarizes and presents product quality data to management team.

Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field and a minimum of five years of appropriate industry experience.

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (preferred).

• DoD contractor experience, specifically in a manufacturing environment, highly desired.

• Proficient technical expertise and knowledge including precision machining of components, sheet metal fabrication, component special processes.

• Experience in ISO 9001 / AS9100 Standards and Audits, 6 Sigma tools, Statistics is required. Certified quality auditor preferred.

• Ability to read blue prints and understand industry and military specifications.

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, writing and computer skills.

CLEARANCE: At this time, a DoD security clearance is not a requirement for this position but Company reserves the right to amend the security requirement based on contract modifications. US Citizenship is a requirement for working with DoD classified information.
