We are currently seeking a talented Transportation Engineer for our West Palm Beach, FL office. This position will provide engineering expertise for local roads, arterial streets, and highways including: engineering report preparation, interchange and intersection studies, and construction plan and specification development. The candidate must be able to work effectively and communicate regularly with clients and federal, state, and local agencies. The candidate must possess a proven track record of successful transportation project development and design. This position also offers exciting challenges and opportunities for assisting in transportation market project management, business development and participating in professional organizations. Essential duties include:

  • Prepares typical section sheets
  • Performs line and grade studies
  • Performs vertical and horizontal geometric design
  • Prepares plan/profile sheets
  • Prepares cross section sheets
  • Performs drainage design computations
  • Prepares drainage design plan sheets
  • Prepares signing, pavement marking, and traffic control plans
  • Prepares sequence of construction plans
  • Prepares and checks design computations and quantity estimates
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Coordination with regulatory agencies, utility companies and sub-consultants to obtain information, guidance, and requirements
  • Serves as project engineer working with a team of engineers and designers while meeting project schedules and budgets
  • Attends onsite and offsite client meetings
  • Adheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual
Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Must possess at least 5+ years of relevant transportation engineering work experience designing roadway projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, GEOPAK, and OpenRoads (3D) is helpful
  • Strong oral communication and technical writing skills
  • Project management experience and skills on FDOT projects is advantageous
