Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates is seeking a highly organized, independent, and motivated intern to support the firm’s practice in transportation planning. This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person to become involved in building Nelson\Nygaard’s
practice, which is focused on multimodal transportation planning for livable communities.

Intern responsibilities will depend on specific needs of projects that are undertaken, but will likely include research, data collection, spreadsheet analysis, mapping, writing and editing reports, development of outreach materials, and potentially some
minor business development tasks. There will be numerous opportunities for the candidate to contribute to Nelson\Nygaard projects across the United States. Candidates must be willing to travel and must have a valid driver’s license.
The ideal candidate would be someone who
(1) Has completed his/her first year of a Master’s in planning program and who is focusing on transportation planning or
(2) Has a Bachelor's or Master of Science degree in a related field and is interested in gaining experience prior to entering graduate school for planning.
Other relevant degrees include transportation engineering, transportation operations, urban/city/regional planning, urban design, and landscape architecture. Above all, we are looking for someone who has a passion for sustainable transportation planning,
and is interested in making communities better for our clients and their constituents.

Potential candidates may be asked to demonstrate their writing and basic data analysis skills. Candidates should be available to start in the late summer, early fall.
