Nelson\Nygaard staffs the Commute Program onsite at Expedia,’s headquarters in Bellevue, WA. The Commute Outreach Coordinator is a Nelson\Nygaard employee embedded at Expedia full time. Expedia is a leading employer in the Puget Sound region deeply committed to employee experience and providing employees with a flexible, supportive commute. In anticipation of their move from Bellevue, WA to Seattle in 2019, the Commute Outreach Coordinator works hand-in-hand with employees to expand awareness of travel options, troubleshoot issues, and provide a fun, engaging environment.


The Commute Outreach Coordinator reports to the Commute Manager and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Employee Communications: Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging employee outreach program with a goal to raise awareness about commute options and reduce the number of employees driving alone to work. Be the primary “go to” for all question and concerns related to commute and parking programs and day-to-day operational requests and issues. Host individual and group meetings with employees. Lead weekly New Employee Onboarding sessions. Work with Communications Team to develop commute program messaging to employees.
  • Events: Organize periodic commute events; coordinate with Expedia facilities and vendors.
  • Competitions: Develop and market monthly commute competitions.
  • Program Development: Work with the Commute Manager to develop and test new programs on a quarterly basis.
  • Administration and Parking: Manage employee parking, ORCA pass requests, vendor invoicing approvals, and other administrative and commute program logistics.



The ideal candidate:

  • Has a minimum of two years of outreach, marketing, sales, or customer service experience
  • Has a bachelor’s degree in a related field, including business, marketing, communications, urban/transportation planning, human resources, sustainability, or related field


Potential candidates must demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


Above all, we are looking for someone who has a passion for sustainable transportation planning, is a strong communicator (oral, written, and visual), and is interested in working hand-in-hand with employees.

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary range equivalent for this position is industry competitive, depending on qualifications and years of experience. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, pre-tax transit or bicycling benefit, a 401k program, life insurance and paid time off.
