Perkins+Will Ontario a multi-disciplinary design firm, is looking for an energetic, self-motivated and dedicated Human Resources Specialist to join our team. Located in the Toronto studio, the HR Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of HR policies and programs for 80+ employees across 3 offices in Ontario (Toronto, Dundas and Ottawa). Job responsibilities will include all aspects of recruiting, on-boarding, off-boarding, benefits and payroll administration, compensation guidance, performance review administration, employee relations, record keeping, health and safety, assisting with learning and development and other HR Specialist duties.
This role requires a hands-on practitioner responsible for daily HR functions, ideally suited for an individual with experience in a stand-alone HR environment. This is an extremely fast-paced, highly creative environment, or requiring the ability to change focus quickly and stay up-to-date with multiple priorities and demands.
This position will report directly to the Operations Director, working in partnership with key design leadership, liaising with the Vancouver HR Manager and Firm-wide Corporate Human Resources Director.
Qualifications and skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• CHRP or working towards this designation
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources role; experience in a design or professional services firm is an asset.
• A solid understanding of Ontario HR practices and administration, as well as applicable legislation such as the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act, Workers Compensation and other applicable provincial regulations.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with all levels of employees, both written and verbal with the ability to influence solutions. Passion, leadership, high energy and drive are also critical to this role.
• Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make recommendations.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task numerous projects.
• Intermediate to Advanced computer skills in MS Office, especially in Excel
• Experience using Ultipro or a similar HRIS product is essential
• Experience with reviewing payroll
