The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) assumes responsibility for:

  • Planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating customer care activities
  • Staff education
  • Management activities as delegated by the Nurse Manager.
  • Acts as a resource to staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating customer care standards to meet the needs of the customer populations served.
  • Coordinates unit resources within financial parameters set in annual budgeting process in collaboration with Nurse Manager.
  • Participates with organizational and department leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic and operational plans that are aligned with organizational mission, vision, assets, strategies and initiatives.


  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science or Arts in Nursing


  • At least one (1) year acute care RN experience required, two (2) plus years acute care RN experience preferred 
  • Previous leadership experience preferred, acting in a charge nurse or Unit Shift Coordinator capacity
  • Preference will be given to those who have previous experience in all of the following areas: 
    • Med/Surg
    • Pediatrics 
    • Labor & Delivery 
    • Postpartum 
License Requirement
  • Current MN RN Licensure
  • Current BLS Certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • NRP & PEARS certification or obtained within 12 months of hire
