NAES Maintenance & Construction
NAES Corporation has an immediate opening for an Environmental Specialist at the Morgantown Energy facility.
Morgantown is a 68 MW coal-fired cogeneration facility located in Morgantown, West Virginia along the bank of the Monongahela River. The plant consists of two circulating fluidized bed boilers with two natural gas-fired package boilers as backup for steam export. Primary fuel is a mixture of 65% bituminous coal waste (GOB) and 35% bituminous coal. The facility generates 50 MW of net electricity to Allegheny Power and supplies an average of 85,000 lbs per hour of steam to West Virginia University. The plant achieved commercial operations in 1992.

Responsible for the oversight of the project's Environmental Compliance Program.
Ensure day-to-day environmental compliance at the project including all applicable environmental monitoring, record keeping and reporting requirements, including continuous emissions monitoring system (CEMS) operation, data collection and reporting.
Coordinate, track and, as applicable, complete all environmental tasks and activities and communicate status to Project Management and NAES Environmental Support Services.
In coordination with NAES Company Environmental Support Services and Safety, monitor and recommend plans for compliance with safety and environmental regulatory changes that will affect the project.
Coordinate/conduct/document employee environmental training as required by NAES programs and oversee Environmental Manual implementation and revisions.
Work with the data acquisition and handling system (DAHS) OEM to ensure monitoring software is working properly and coordinate any necessary modifications/upgrades to the CEMS and DAHS.
Investigate and follow-up on environmental incidents, including hazardous material spills, air permit violations, water releases, etc. Perform root cause analysis and develop and submit lessons learned as applicable.
Conduct assigned assessments of the project Environmental Compliance Program in accordance with NAES procedures and the approved assessment schedule
Assume administrative and staff support duties when assigned. These duties could include support of other functions within the plant such as internal compliance auditing functions, operational data collection and analysis, etc.
Perform miscellaneous tasks related to the plant's operation to support both operational and management requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include: working on feet, stair and ladder climbing and routine lifting. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, etc.)
Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, work load and project conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required. Occasional overnight travel required. This position works days with occasional shift work as required.
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the project.
Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline with at least five years applicable experience in power plants including environmental and operations. Experience with project scheduling and budgeting desirable. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in technical writing. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and project management software. Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems, Environmental permit compliance and reporting and environmental DAHS software and hardware required.
