About This Role:

Work Schedule: 2nd Shift| 3:00pm - 11:30pm | Monday - Friday|

Under general supervision, the Automation Maintenance Technician performs basic troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance to molding and assembly machines and related equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Performs machine start-up, setup and changeovers. Verifies correct tool and machine settings.

2. Moves machines and installs redesigned parts and systems to molding and assembly machines.

3. Works with Production team members to ensure they are satisfied with equipment maintenance performed.

4. Documents equipment repairs and maintenance performed to machinery and associated equipment, utilizing correct documentation procedures.

5. Seeks to improve own skill level by participating in training programs, taking job-related courses, and attending technical seminars.

6. Assists in generating and implementing maintenance procedures for molding and assembly machines and related equipment.

7. Submits suggestions for electrical, electronic, mechanical and hydraulic performance-improving modifications to molding and assembly machines and related equipment.

Other Job Functions:

May be required to work overtime and/or varying hours as necessary.
Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Requirements Education/Training Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required:

Minimum one year of experience in automation maintenance or related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

KSA #1: Basic mechanical skills with knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical theory.

KSA #2: Proficiency in the use of power and hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.

KSA #3: Strong computer knowledge, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

KSA #4: Ability to purchase own hand‐tools and some electrical troubleshooting devices, if necessary.

KSA #5: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to interact with members across the organization.

KSA #6: Excellent attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds.

Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper level work area.

Ability to push and pull with the arms and body to move items on two-wheeled dolly, four-wheeled cart, and hydraulic pallet jack.

Ability to stand and walk to perform machine and equipment inspections and to perform needed repairs and adjustments.

Ability to sit on a minimal basis to complete documentation on machine and equipment breakdowns.

Ability to work in a variety of positions (bending, kneeling, crouching, lying on back) to gain access to areas on machines.

Ability to climb up and down a step stool to gain access to areas on machines with rare use of a stepladder.

Manual dexterity, hand strength and coordination sufficient to grasp and use power equipment and hand tools and to handle a variety of parts.

Finger dexterity sufficient to use precision measuring instruments, to manipulate nuts, bolts, screws and other small components and to complete paperwork activities.

Visual acuity sufficient to perform machine and equipment inspections and to perform needed repairs and adjustments on machines and equipment.

Hearing sufficient to analyze machine sounds and to communicate with individuals.

Work Environment:

Works in manufacturing environment with wet and/or humid conditions and varying ambient temperatures.

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors and fumes or airborne particles.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require PPE.

Uses safety equipment to include: steel-toed boots/leather-upper shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, dust mask, respirator and gloves.
