Preferred Major of Study: Computer Information Systems/Information Science, Supply Chain, Business Administration

Brief description of the Intern's project:

The Intern will support the Domestic Sales team to develop and refine business analytic solutions using Microsoft Excel, SAP Business Objects and Microsoft Power BI. The Intern will collaborate with Regional Sales Managers to understand their top analytics needs and then create solutions to meet those needs. The Intern will utilize data to generate reports and analyze information to extract meaningful insights, which could be used to better understand and improve performance.

Specific goals and objectives for the Intern:

The Intern will learn to develop meaningful metrics and data visualization for a sales organization and to utilize tools to generate reports and dashboard(s). S/he will receive training with IT personnel and Sales Systems Managers to understand and interpret underlying data elements.

What specific knowledge, skills, and/or techniques will the Intern learn?

The Intern will work with Regional Sales Managers to assess data analysis needs in their day-to-day activities, focusing on trends and opportunities. The Intern will gain a thorough understanding of the intake process to understand the specific needs of the user. S/he will apply insight on user needs to create an end product(s) (ex document, report, dashboard) that is a repeatable process. The end product should be able to be automatically updated without manual intervention. The Intern will develop public speaking skills through a cumulative project presentation.

How, specifically, will these knowledge, skills and techniques be taught?

The Intern will work closely with the VP of Sales for introductions to the Regional Sales Managers. The Intern will also receive training from the IT department on data access and management. S/he will work with the Sales Systems Manager to identify current reports and to recommend how to improve visualizations. The Intern will have a dedicated mentor for the duration of the program that will provide training in all these specific areas.
Requirements Qualified candidates must be students who are actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; at a junior college or university.

Must be able and willing to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Must be available for the duration of the internship program.

For students at a University on a semester academic schedule:

Internship start: 5/20
Internship end: 8/23

For students at a University on a quarter academic schedule:

Internship start: 6/17
Internship end: 9/20
