About This Role:

The Golf Business Development Manager I is responsible for regional sales efforts in Golf Irrigation within an assigned territory (Northeastern USA). S/he is responsible for strategic business development including market growth and enhancement of the customer experience.

The ideal candidate will reside within the assigned territory; preferably New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, or Philadelphia.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

1. Drives efforts to develop sales and strategic objectives for the region.

2. Grows key relationships with distributors, specifiers, installers and end users; understands customer needs, identifies opportunities, and develops solutions in alignment with the organization’s sales goals. Proactively creates well-designed customer experiences and solutions within the golf space.

3. Identifies and tracks golf irrigation projects through the entire sales cycle and is responsible for removing obstacles to the end user’s ultimate decision to buy a Hunter system.

4. Communicates overall strategic goals with management and cross functional field teams. Creates collaborative action plans with residential/commercial, lighting, and agricultural teams to maximize the organization’s brand extension.

5. Proposes budget requirements. Manages expenditures within budget and seeks approval for items or events outside of approved budget.

6. Provides pertinent and regional information to drive informed business decisions and obtain internal support of market performance and opportunities.

7. Understands impact of current and future global industry, economic, and environmental trends. Proactively develops necessary action plans and maximizes resources and support.

8. Identifies and implements tools and processes to improve efficiencies in internal and external communication.

Other Job Functions:

Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Responsibility for safety is an important part of the manager position at Hunter Industries. It can only be successful when each manager understands that they play a key role in the implementation of the company Injury and Illness Prevention Program and safety procedures. They are to recognize hazards and correct unsafe conditions in a timely manner. They should set the tone for safety by personal example and commitment to following company safety policies. Manager personnel should investigate work related injuries and illnesses and take corrective and preventive action, including disciplining those who break the rules. Violators should be treated with fairness and firmness.
Requirements Education/Training Required

Bachelor’s degree in related field of study.

Experience Required:

Minimum five years of experience in a professional sales or technical support position, with a minimum of three years in the golf industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

KSA #1: Knowledge of selling, pricing, marketing, and distribution models within the industry. Effective selling and presentation skills, with the demonstrated ability to attain sales goals. Ability to explain and sell the features and benefits of products. Ability to conduct training and educational programs.

KSA #2: Knowledge of consultative selling techniques, distribution channels, business management, and marketing techniques.

KSA #3: Technical knowledge of company and competitor products. Ability to perform field service, troubleshoot systems, and recommend solutions.

KSA #4: Excellent customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain highly effective internal and external working relationships and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. Ability to leverage relationships and negotiate contracts.

KSA #5: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and ability to interact with members across the organization.

KSA #6: Ability to lead, plan, and organize action plans to meet objectives across regions.

KSA #7: Knowledge of finance and budgeting processes. Ability to prepare budgets and manage expenses within budget.

KSA #8: Ability to travel extensively, live in a strategic location within the territory, and work flexible hours.

KSA #9: Basic computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.

KSA #10: Valid driver's license and driving record sufficient to meet requirements to be insured by company. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.

KSA #11: Excellent decision-making skills and understanding of the ROI of aggregate operations within the territory.

KSA #12: Active in golf industry associations at a regional and national level.

KSA #13: Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) Preferred:

KSA #14: Irrigation Association (IA) Level II / III certifications.

KSA #15: Fluency in other languages commonly spoken within the region.

KSA #16: Knowledge of regional business and cultural practices.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit to use the computer and to perform paperwork activities. Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper level work area.
Intermittently walking and standing to move about and to perform work within the office, customer locations, and field sites. Requires ability to walk on uneven terrain at field sites.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds to assist in set-ups and take-downs at trade shows.
Ability to work in a variety of positions (bending, kneeling, crouching) to perform set-ups and take-downs at trade shows, product change-outs, and irrigation system/product troubleshooting.

Manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to set up and take down displays at trade shows.

Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.

Visual acuity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.
Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
Work Environment:

Various locations with varying temperatures, floor surfaces, and exposure to seasonal elements.
