About This Role:

The International Customer Accounts Specialist I provides full-service international account management for customers, with the ultimate goal of achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction. S/he accurately prepares all documentation for foreign import regulations and taxes and serves as the primary internal contact for international distributors and Sales Managers.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

1. Initiates the order entry process and coordinates international order management, including freight quote and terms, Incoterms, forwarder details, order confirmation, and customization of documents. Reviews customer proformas for special pricing and discounts to ensure accurate billing. Collaborates with Regional Managers to fully understand all special terms and conditions.

2. Contacts international customers regarding order revisions, product availability, order acknowledgments, shipments, and logistics to ensure timely shipments and to meet all customer requirements for international sales.

3. Sets up new international customer accounts and creates international lines of credit through the verification of foreign credit references and determination of terms of payment. Supports multiple international territories.

4. Provides information to Regional and Area Managers regarding open orders, open receivables, payment history, and credit lines. Provides distributor account information to industry vendors upon request.

5. Communicates with international customers regarding account status, including aging reports, payments, invoices, credit lines, credit memos and debit memos. Provides weekly reports on aged receivables. Administers account and order holds, oversees cash applications, and communicates these activities to the Finance team.

6. Researches and references complex international trade compliance regulations. Remains current on account territories, as well as customs clearance and country-specific requirements.

7. Coordinates all aspects of international shipments with internal logistics team and transportation vendors. Maintains accurate expected ship dates, monitors on‐time shipment of orders, and reports regularly on open orders.

8. Travels to distributor locations and attends trade shows to build strong customer relationships and better understand customer expectations regarding the logistics of their shipment. Participates in onsite events and customer visits.

9. Maintains and develops own product knowledge and education through product training videos and offsite trainings related to irrigation products and technology. Communicates with Manufacturing, Planning, Product Management and other internal teams to provide timely and accurate information regarding all pertinent product updates.

10. Performs tasks within corporate portal site to streamline internal processes relating to order management, credit and collections, and shared information. Continually improves on international order management and shipping processes.

Other Job Functions:

May be required to work overtime when necessary.

Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Requirements Education/Training Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required:

Minimum three years of experience in customer service with at least two years of focus on international customer service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

KSA #1: Ability to maintain and develop customer relations, and to deliver excellent customer service at all times.

KSA #2: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

KSA #3: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with members across the organization.

KSA #4: Advanced knowledge of credit and collections to carry out various transactions. Strong knowledge of international logistics, such as Incoterms, freight terms, and globally preferred methods of payment.

KSA #5: Intermediate proficiency with computers, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.

KSA #6: Ability to analyze reports and use data for planning, communicating, decision-making and problem analysis.

KSA #7: Ability to troubleshoot delays and change processes to avoid future problems.

KSA #8: Excellent attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.

KSA #9: Ability to travel to distributor locations to support customers and Sales Managers. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) Preferred:

KSA #10: Verbal and written language skills in additional languages.

KSA #11: Experience in the irrigation industry.

KSA #12: Experience in inside sales.

KSA #13: Knowledge of JD Edwards software.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit to use the computer and to perform paperwork activities. Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper level work area.

Intermittent walking and standing to move about and to perform work within the office, customer locations and field sites. Ability to walk on uneven terrain at field sites.

Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds to assist in set-ups and take-downs at trade shows.

Ability to work in a variety of positions (bending, kneeling, crouching) to perform set-ups and take-downs at trade shows, product change-outs and irrigation system/product troubleshooting.

Manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to set up and take down displays at trade shows.

Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.

Visual acuity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.
Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.

Work Environment:

Office setting with temperature controls.

Various locations with varying temperatures, floor surfaces and exposure to seasonal elements.
