Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7:00 pm - 3:30 am | Friday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm

About This Role: The Quality Supervisor I supervises and coordinates quality activities of a single shift focused on team performance and adherence to quality standards and processes. S/he leads employees to ensure team efficiencies, reduce scrap and variation, and maximize customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

1. Communicates with, trains, and mentors employees to optimize team efforts in the production of high quality products.

2. Responsible for the quality inspection of products utilizing six sigma and lean manufacturing practices. Deploys metrology best practices and statistical process control techniques for problem solving and root cause analysis.

3. Monitors and tracks team output, quality processes, labor efficiencies, direct operating expenses, and performance metrics of team. Measures performance and quality, and drives positive results in key performance indicators (KPIs). Identifies and implements continuous improvement projects focused on exceeding the expectations of both our internal and external customers.

4. Tracks department expenses against budget and recommends measures for cost reduction as well as any need for additional resources.

5. Oversees equipment management for respective areas. Performs audits ensuring quality equipment is properly stored, calibrated, and available. Supports the use of personal safety equipment, as required, and maintains a clean and safe working environment.

6. Promotes open communication and transparency by conducting regular team meetings and individual one-on-one meetings with direct reports. Writes and conducts employee performance reviews.

7. Identifies and leads multiple projects to improve operating efficiencies, reduce defects and variation, and maximize customer satisfaction.

Other Job Functions:

Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Responsibility for safety is an important part of the supervisory position at Hunter Industries. It can only be successful when each supervisor and lead understands that they play a key role in the implementation of the company Injury and Illness Prevention Program and safety procedures. They are to recognize hazards and correct unsafe conditions in a timely manner. They should set the tone for safety by personal example and commitment to following company safety policies. Supervisor and lead personnel should investigate work related injuries and illnesses and take corrective and preventive action, including disciplining those who break the rules. Violators should be treated with fairness and firmness.
Requirements Education/Training Required:

Associate degree or equivalent experience.

Experience Required:

Minimum three years of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment, with at least one year of experience in a supervisory role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

KSA #1: Strong knowledge of quality control processes, procedures, policies and guidelines.

KSA #2: Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to communicate clear expectations to inspire, energize, and motivate the team.

KSA #3: Proven project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects, objectives, and/or tasks.

KSA #4: Excellent communication skills in English with ability to give both verbal and written presentations. Ability to interact with members across the organization.

KSA #5: Experience working with manufacturing methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma.

KSA #6: Experience in improving key performance indicator metrics through strong data analysis and continuous improvement.

KSA #7: Knowledge of OSHA and other related safety requirements for manufacturing industry.

KSA #8: Excellent computer knowledge, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) Preferred:

KSA #9: Strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds.

Ability to work in a variety of positions (bending, kneeling, crouching) to gain access to areas of machines and to obtain boxes of parts from under machines.

Ability to climb stairs to gain access to work area.

Ability to sit for extended periods to perform inspection activities. Intermittent walking and will also be required.

Manual dexterity, hand strength and coordination sufficient to grasp and use precision measuring instruments, to perform data entry into the computer, and to complete paperwork.

Visual acuity sufficient to inspect samples using precision measuring instruments, to read blueprints and to complete paperwork.

Work Environment:

Works in inspection area with linoleum floors and molding department with concrete floors and temperature controls in both areas.

Exposure to chemical fumes from molding machine in molding department.
Wears safety glasses hearing protection and safety shoe in designated areas.
