PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Directs the activities of the Graphics, Printing, Forming and Maintenance departments relating to production of WIP and finished goods through subordinate supervisors. Coordinates with other departments to ensure the safe, and timely utilization of material, equipment, and manpower.
•Monitors the safety environment of the workplace and acts to eliminate unsafe conditions, practices, equipment, and personnel.
•Confers with management personnel to establish and maintain quality and production standards for both product and practices.
•Reviews new products and provides feedback via the Commercialization process.
•Consults with engineering personnel, relative to changes to equipment or materials, to increase production throughput, reduce costs, and/or improve the quality of products.
•Coordinates Production and Maintenance activities with Tooling, Materials, and
QA activities to generate maximum quality production with efficient utilization of materials, equipment, and manpower.
•Revises production schedules and priorities to accommodate unforeseen events relating to raw materials, equipment, sales demands, personnel, weather, etc.
•Monitors Production employees with regards to staffing levels, skill levels, training requirements, safety, demonstrated performance, and acts to continuously improve the quality and ability of the work force.
•Compiles, stores, retrieves, and analyzes production related data. Generates reports as needed.
•Generates department budgets within areas of responsibility.
•Controls expenses including labor and overtime, equipment repair and replacement, equipment parts inventories, outside contractors and services thorough regular monitoring and approval of those expenditures.
•Ensures compliance with governmental agency regulations.
•Is a practitioner and champion of Huhtamaki Continuous Improvement and Safety processes. i.e. Emergency Evacuation, Lockout Tagout, Emergency Action Plan
Supervisory responsibility for: Maintenance Manager, Forming Supervisors, Printing Supervisor, Graphics Coordinator and other salaried employees assigned to Operations.
•Must be a member and active participant in all Huhtamaki management programs.
•Develops and mentor’s direct reports including area managers, production supervisors and leads.
•Other duties as assigned.

•Well organized, resourceful, self-starter who enjoys multi tasking and working in a challenging, lean, fast paced, team environment.
•Working knowledge of computerized maintenance systems along with proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office and a CMMS.
•Ability to work with people at all levels; good teamwork and interpersonal communications skills.
•Ability to lead and motivate others.
•Bachelors Degree is preferred. BS in Engineering is a plus
•6-10 years Production management experience in packaging industry. Flexographic and lithographic printing experience and paper converting operations highly preferred.
•Must have strong understanding of Maintenance management in the manufacturing sector.
•Six Sigma qualified at the Green Belt level preferred and familiar with Lean Six Sigma.

•Requires walking (45%), standing (35%) and sitting (20%). Requires walking the production floor daily, twisting, bending/stooping, squatting/kneeling and reaching above, at and below the shoulders. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand for extended periods of time.
•Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
•This position requires frequent communication with internal and external request for information regarding maintenance projects or activities. Must be able to speak or exchange accurate information in these situations.
Environment and scheduling:
•Hot humid environment during the summer months, noise levels require hearing protection at all times on the production floor.
•Is expected in the plant before 6:00AM to conduct daily maintenance shift meeting and is expected to flex their schedule as needed. Occasional evenings and weekends should be expected.
