Description

The primary function of this position is to ensure proper processing of all Order Management activities.  Daily functions include providing our customers and our manufacturing facilities with the expertise to obtain required part identification, pricing and lead time.  Responsible for creating customer orders and tracking status to ensure they are shipped on-time and complete. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Responds to telephone and email request for machine parts

•  Determines schedule for parts completion whether fabricated in the machine shop or purchased

•  Issues customer order quotations

•  Creates customer orders in BPCS

•  Provides order acknowledgment and commit date to customers

•  Tracks open orders, update customer delivery if necessary

•  Promotes departmental goals by collecting performance data and publishing key metrics

•  Collects lead time data for all phases of the order fulfillment process and identifies areas for improvement activities

•  Coordinates and works cross functionally with Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Machine Shop, Quality, Shipping & Receiving to meet all customer requirements

•  Facilitates customer open order status review meeting and publishes action items to address critical issues

•  Responsible for some procurement activities for purchased products

•  Provides cross functional backup within the Planning & Scheduling department

•  Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

•  Strong verbal and written communication skills including professional phone etiquette

•  Works well in a group/team setting

•  Demonstrates patience, good listening skills and ability to follow instructions

•  Exhibits a sense of urgency by providing quick follow-up

•  Possesses excellent organizational skills

•  Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

•  Ability to multitask and set priorities in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

•  Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & other related office software

•  Working knowledge of machine component function

•  Ability to read assembly drawings

 

PREFERRED

•  Experience with BPCS MRP system

•  Familiarity with IBM Notes

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

•  B.A. or B.S. required, or equivalent 5-year work experience in manufacturing environment

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  

•  Understanding and communication of written and spoken English required

•  Ability to clearly and concisely present ideas and concepts

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

•  Add, subtract, multiply and divide

•  Calculate unit of measure conversions

•  Calculate cost mark-up percentages and margin

 

REASONING ABILITY:

•  Determination if circumstances qualify for a warranty or free parts claim

•  Anticipation of order likelihood before committing previously quoted capacity

•  Spotting order trends which suggest equipment issues in the field
