Description PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB
Supervises department personnel through Team Leaders to meet or exceed established objectives in the following areas: safety, employee satisfaction, productivity, continuous improvement, quality, spending, waste reduction and any other area(s) identified by the plant leadership team. Provides guidance to department personnel ensuring a safe work environment. Performs assignments related to shift supervision while resolving problems and providing direction for the shift. Verifies the quality of work through periodic monitoring of product and troubleshooting of processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Maintain a positive and professional attitude that reflects the company’s commitment to safety, employee satisfaction, quality, and continuous improvement.
•Ensure direct reports follow Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), safe work practice policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Ensures the job safety analyses (JSA) are followed, updated and maintained.
•Conduct monthly safety meeting, weekly tailgate meeting, daily safety discussions, correct any unsafe concerns and conditions, create and track safety work orders.
•Direct and coordinate the activities for plant personnel in coordination with the Operations Manager’s instructions.
•Maintain production control records and provides information to management regarding safety, delivery dates, quality, schedules or operating problems.
•Provide guidance and training to the press operators for color matching, troubleshooting, and syllabus completion.
•Implement waste reduction strategy; participate in goal setting and problem-solving activities for the department and assist operators in executing set plan.
•Investigate and fill out all forms relating to an incident, quality, mix and customer action requirement (CAR). Review, create and revise EtQ documents.
•Verify press operators are meeting or exceeding customers print quality expectations.
•Participates in and drives CI projects for sustainability.
•Manage vendor relationships to ensure project goals are met: expenditures, equipment delivery, equipment performance specifications (throughput, safety, reliability).
•Take all necessary actions to manage production costs and improve operational unit variance – OUVar.
•Advise management on capital improvements needed to increase company productivity.
•Informs Operations Manager and Department Managers of equipment and production problems and coordinates repairs.
•End of shift reports –fill out daily production report, close out finished orders and then run back flush reports. Verifies order completion and reports shortages.
•Assist department manager for performance appraisals.
Approve employees time records and vacation requests using time and attendance time system.
•Tracks department vacations following SOP
•Conduct customer or new job approvals to meet client expectations.
•Coordinate PM efforts and maintenance of all the equipment in the department with Maintenance and Engineering.
•Comply with Material Safety Data (MSD) information with respect to chemicals used.
•Control and maintain anilox condition and inventory.
•Carry out environmental compliance tasks, as appropriate to the position.
•Other duties as directed by manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSABILITIES
•Supervises all flexo, printing, slitting, and plating employees.
Requirements EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
•High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required
•Five (5) years of experience performing adjustments and repairs in a production environment
•Must have three to five years’ experience in a leadership role within a Litho and Flexo printing manufacturing environment.


SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
•Must be able to successfully communicate in English, both orally and in writing: receive and act on written and oral instructions; write brief reports; discuss mechanical situations and applications; provide direction to others.
•Must have good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
•Must be computer literate, including working knowledge of BPCS, HDCS, Microsoft Excel, Word, Mainsaver, TWS, PI and internet explorer.
•Must understand Cielab color computer system and CMC, LAB color tolerance.
•Ability to identify slight color variation, operate X-Rite and eye one spectrophotometers, use NWA and color matrix information as tools to maintain color consistency.
•Understand, identify and correct printing problems as they relate to ink water balance, dot gain and trapping.
•Operate and fully understand color control and registration system, ramping software, tension display/control/effect on repeats, web guides, print unit controls, cylinder undercut for packing calculations, fully understand roller train configuration/installation/trouble shooting, size change properties, die configurations for both outboard and inboard stripping. Delivery settings and adjustments.
•Understand all components of the press: Supervisor (saving, recalling, machine parameters and settings), operator console, EB dryer operation and cross train operators to ensure proper coverage during absences.
•Understand of Litho/Flexo printing process and supporting equipment.
