Maintenance and Engineering Manager
Manage and provide leadership and resources to the Albertville maintenance and engineering staff so both facilities and equipment are maintained to defined specifications and operate efficiently to meet the production plan within budgetary constraints. Reduce process and product variability to improve quality and to reduce cost. Ensure there are sufficient technical capabilities, internal and external, to support the technologies utilized in the processes and automation technologies. Manage materials budget of the Albertville facility.
Manage a staff of hourly and salaried employees in the maintenance and engineering department of the Albertville facility in support of the plant’s objectives.
Support the Albertville operations and assist the other molded fiber and pressware facilities in a variety of technical assignments, as well as for strategic projects and critical repairs. Continuously search for and create innovative solutions to technological problems.
Manage the Albertville Maintenance and Engineering functions while ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment and control systems.
Manage the Albertville electrical and mechanical maintenance technicians, project engineer(s), process controls engineer(s) and maintenance supervisors to ensure that plant efficiency and optimization projects are meeting schedule, budget and specifications.
Develop a career path for the maintenance and engineering staff in Albertville. Provide technical expertise to maintenance supervisors & engineering staff.
Provide long-term direction & goal setting for process control and automation. Manage capital projects related to automation and process control systems. Provide technological process improvements and cost savings to the operations in addition to providing daily technical support to the Albertville Operation.
Design, estimate, install and startup systems for process automation and control in Albertville with the help of the engineering & maintenance staff.
Provide the molded fiber and pressware technology with the leadership, technical capability and direction for all strategic projects from project concept/generation through start-up and de-bugging.
Administer plant personnel and safety policies and procedures for the Albertville maintenance department.
Strategic Project Support – provide technical support as needed for strategic projects throughout the molded fiber and pressware technologies to increase production capacity.

The following are required to enable job holders to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Strong technical and problem solving skills in mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, thermal, and hydraulic systems with 5 to 7 years experience in a manufacturing environmental.
• Knowledge and experience in managing projects in a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in pulp and paper environment, especially maintenance, process controls and information systems.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Communication skills, both written and oral.
• Time management skills, ability to multi-task.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• BSME or BSMET degree or related field of study.
• 7 to 10 years experience in managing projects in a manufacturing environment.
• 5 to 7 years experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment, preferably in a leadership position managing people.
Physical effort and dexterity -
Physical effort requirements may include lifting up to 25 lbs., extended sitting, standing, and walking distances. Work environment may include heat, cold, dust, and noise. Work schedule occasionally requires travel, extended work hours and/or modified work hours.
Visual acuity, hearing, speaking -
Sit, stand, or walk 4 to 5 hours per day.
Performs fine dexterity of hand movements for 2 to 3 hours per day. Performs other less physical movements for durations of 1 hour per day.
Environment and Scheduling -
Work environment may include high heat and humidity, cold, dust, noise, vibration, wet areas. Normal work schedule is 40 hours per week. Work schedule may require travel, extended work hours and/or work on holidays.
