Description SENIOR STAFF HSER (ENVIRONMENTAL) SPECIALIST

EP Energy is recruiting an environmental specialist to provide full time environmental support to its Texas operations. Operations include the drilling, completion, and production of oil and gas wells. The position reports to the Manager of Environmental and may be based in Houston or Dilley, Tx. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of environmental professionals experienced in air, remediation, water, and waste.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITES:
• Ensure operations comply with all local, state, and federal environmental requirements.
• Obtain timely approvals and permits from TCEQ.
• Develop and implement SPCC plans. Conduct annual SPCC training and inspections.
• Coordinate spill reporting and cleanup, including agency notifications, soil sampling, and closure reporting.
• Review emerging issues and regulations; effectively communicate business implications, and lead organization to manage new requirements.
• Build partnerships with key external stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with Operations peers.
• Support business development, acquisition, and divestiture activities by providing expert analysis on potential environmental issues and solutions.

Requirements REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years environmental permitting, compliance, and project management experience preferred.
o Experience must be in the oil and gas industry, based onshore in the lower 48 United States.
o Specific experience to the upstream exploration and production sector in Utah is preferred.
• A strong background in reading, understanding, and interpreting state and federal environmental rules and regulations is required.
o Environmental multimedia experience preferred: air, remediation, water, and waste.
o Strong knowledge of GHG reporting, NSPS IIII, JJJJ, OOOO, and OOOOa rules as well as NESPHAPS ZZZZ and HH rules preferred.
o Strong knowledge of TCEQ and EPA permitting requirements preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Physical Science, Engineering or related technical discipline required.
• Excellent writing skills required.
• Excellent verbal communication skills required.
• Capability to manage a wide variety of issues and responsibilities.
• Travel up to 25% of the time between field locations and Houston.
