POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Business Banker I is responsible for the acquisition, retention and expansion of business banking members in their assigned service center(s). This is achieved through the swift mastery of product knowledge and product possibilities with a focus on service to existing clients. The Business Banker I will be responsible for serving existing clients with progressively uncovering and delivering quality solutions to meet the key objectives of all business owners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Business Prospecting - proactively uncover sales opportunities with non-members and provide proposals in order to obtain the business as a member. The primary focus at this level will be businesses with moderately complex needs.
  • Relationship Management - conduct meetings with existing business members.
  • Service Center Involvement - provide ongoing business education to service centers, including at least one daily huddle with the staff.
  • Call Blocks - weekly 1 on 1 session with Business Consultants (or other MSR), to include joint calling and reviewing sales activity.
  • Networking - build relationships with referral sources, engaged in networking activities, trade shows, chamber meetings, etc..

EDUCATION:

Associates Degree in a field related to financial services or an Associate’s Degree equivalent of 3+ years business related sales experience.

MINUMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

1+ year business related sales experience. Preferred financial services knowledge, basic knowledge of business economics, and banking and working knowledge of commercial/small businesses.

TECHNICAL OR SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Relationship Management - influencing, advisory, and acquisition skills.
  • Problem Solving - superior problem solving skills.
  • Communication - superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Initiative/sound decision making/managing the member experience with credit union regulations and procedures.

PHYSICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to drive to and from business appointments throughout the day as needed. Must be able to lift 30 pounds, use hands and fingers for repetitive and detailed tasks such as typing, sit or stand ability to problem solve and use judgment in situations.
