Description Conducts timely and accurate business analysis and reporting to assist with strategic decision making in the organization. Provides quantitative and technical expertise to assigned business units/leaders to ensure that all relevant financial, marketing, and operational data are available to support business decisions.


Core Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor business results and preemptively bring forth analysis explaining “why” and root causes behind shifts in performance.

• Critically analyze information, clearly articulate findings, and concisely present recommendations to management team.

• Perform lift analysis results of various brand extension tests, new product tests, and marketing campaigns. Analyze Gift Card sales, product mix shifts, customer traffic changes, and other programs/initiatives. Develop fact-based conclusions and recommendations for senior management in order to facilitate business decisions.

• Typical projects require the ability to problem-solve and piece together data points to construct logical conclusions and recommendations based on knowable facts combined with balanced intuition. For example: Why did sales spike during a certain period? How did our product sales mix change due to a new product launch?

• Projects incorporate working with large quantities of data and developing meaningful analysis complete with “why” results occurred and providing recommendations for future action. This requires identifying what are the knowable facts and what assumptions need to be made. Both internal and industry data are leveraged. Data and assumptions are then logically combined to construct analysis.

• Partner cross-functionally with Business Intelligence department to help validate data, bring in third party data, and create new metrics.


Requirements Essential Skills & Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Master’s degree a plus.

• 1-3 years’ experience in business analysis, financial analysis, management consulting, or a related role that involved analyzing large data sets to draw out actionable insights. A working knowledge of basic statistical concepts is very helpful.

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to meet established deadlines. Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment where tight deadlines and changing priorities are not uncommon.


Preferred Skills & Background

• Familiarity with business intelligence software (e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau, SQL) and/or statistical software (e.g. R, SAS).

• Experience designing and analyzing tests that involve pre-post outcomes and control groups.

• Working knowledge of financial statements and/or financial modeling concepts.

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to meet established deadlines. Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment where tight deadlines and changing priorities are not uncommon.


Preferred Skills & Background

• Familiarity with business intelligence software (e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau, SQL) and/or statistical software (e.g. R, SAS).

• Experience with demand forecasting and/or financial forecasting.
