This position is responsible for driving the beverage strategy and the process for planning, development, implementation, and management of system-wide beverage marketing programs, promotions, initiatives, special projects, and events for Applebee’s.


• Lead various cross-functional teams in discussions around innovation and new product ideas
• Manage all aspects of the beverage process, from ideation to market launch.
• Initiate work around sales analysis, identifying trends, reviewing research, facilitating ideation and recipe creation, testing, measuring results, and product implementation
• Work closely with Franchise Partners to grow beverage sales and drive the bar experience at Applebee’s

• Maintain beverage vendor relations and establish new business partnerships that benefit company goals and objectives:

• Negotiate and establish an annual beverage budget and maintain funds through vendor support
• Build annual plans with beverage vendors and negotiate marketing and financial support
• Leverage beverage vendors’ business resources, properties, and affiliations that best support the company’s goals and objectives
• Work with beverage vendors to stay current with national, state, and local alcohol laws

• Identify opportunities for strategic alliances and partnerships that further business goals
• Create and implement innovative and effective sales and marketing programs to drive traffic and increase sales revenue and profit margins
• Manage Back Bar Analysis and Bar Management process
• Identify appropriate beer, spirit and wine choices for national promotion

• Oversee beverage campaign management of system-wide beverage marketing programs and promotional activities including planning, providing creative direction, systems communication, program execution, and post-program analysis.
• Consult and Support Franchisees with beverage optimization recommendations
• Identify areas within beverage to drive innovation, increase sales, enhance the guest experience, create efficiencies and/or lower costs
• Manage program research, develop program metrics, analyze program results and communicate those results
• Plan system-wide beverage marketing calendar including marketing plan special initiatives and other programs to senior management, regional managers, franchise consultants and general managers
• Identify opportunities for strategic alliances and partnerships that further business goals
• Assist with global marketing development, implementation, and system-wide brand compliance

Requirements SKILLS:

• Abilities in research and sales analysis
• Knowledge of alcohol laws and responsible alcohol service
• Bar management skills
• Knowledge of cost analysis and ROI
• Knowledge of food & beverage service industry, restaurant operations, supplier relationships, and alcohol distribution systems
• Skill in time management and organization with excellent attention to detail
• Planning: Skilled in determining whether tasks should be attempted, identifying the most effective way of completing the task and preparing how to overcome unexpected difficulties
• Time Management: Focus on desired results, determining what is important and urgent, clarifying next steps and communicating effective deadlines on achieving desired results
• Research Skills: Utilize a variety of resources to complete a research assignment and be able to summarize and present your findings


• Experience working in a franchise, restaurant, or retail concept
• Prior experience in the restaurant industry
• International experience
